J. Hinshaw Said: A actual treat, but be ready for glitches Sep. 2nd 2010

I purchased the Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-Ray player presently after purchase my prototypal HD TV in January 2010. The TV is a Samsung Plasma unit and I desired to ensure that both the TV and DVD contestant were from the same manufacturer, and given the reviews listed here on Amazon, I was carefully optimisitic that this acquire would invoke discover well.

After 8 months, I crapper plainly land that this contestant delivers as advertised. The picture clarity, resolution and colouration are all reddened eld better than what I had been watching with my preceding contestant and similarity TV.

Admittedly, I am not a techno geek and I ever move until a product cycle has reached a mature stage beforing making a buy. Also, I hit watched less than 10 Blu-Ray movies, but the ones that I have watched thusly farther Avatar being the most notable , substance picture graphics and calibre that top anything I have watched in my home and competition flick theatre quality.

Even now, I ease catch myself marveling when watching certain flick sequences, especially those that are daylong analyse shots as well as close-ups that ofttimes exposit entertainer facial imperfections that I had never seen with much clearness before.

My exclusive reservations with this contestant are as follows:

1 It module sometimes hick up and black out for a moment and alter to one of individual other represent settings i.e. movie to dynamic . This happened last hebdomad 3 separate times during one viewing, still it does not become on a conformable basis.
2 I was unnatural to call customer assist this hebdomad when the organisation froze and would not move to manual or remote commands play, FF, kibosh . Instead, the readout on the player displayed "CLOSE" instead of going through the exemplary ordering of upload steps to intend to the DVD PLAY mode. After occupation the Samsung 800 sort and conversation to a assist techician very wrinkled english I had to do the following:

1 Unplug the organisation from the power strip
2 Press and stop the power fix while unplugged for 10 seconds
3 Plug the organisation into the noesis source
4 Restart the unit with a DVD installed

This fix served to reset the power source and the unit began working again.

I hit purposely AVOIDED accepting some firmware upgrades, based on what I hit read here at Amazon, so my problem did not order some of the more enlarge fixes that have been registered by others, but the limited mend to my supply was not covered in the owners drill nor could I locate a resolution on their website.

In summary, rattling bright with the players performance but slightly concerned because I significance the technology is still not foolproof and when I spend more than twice what it would cost for a non Blu-Ray DVD player, I expect both performance and daylong constituent quality/reliability.

Richard House Said: Samsung bd-p1600 time its prime but still entireness fine Aug. 30th 2010

At the time I bought this, it was state of the art. Now, they are more resolution, read, upload, download faster, and are lighter. All in every though, it still does substantially for most things. Only critique is that you have to purchase Samsung's USB WiFi device if you slope enter with a wire for internet admittance you dont need internet admittance for anything but the online services same Netflix . allmost a hundered bucks was a bit such after buying the BD Player check the options of the other players with WiFi shapely in and account for the price. I wasn't trusty whether to take a quantity with this player based on other reviews mentioning the firmware raise issues. It's only been a little over a month today but so far...so good. Video quality of Blu-ray discs are great but more surprising to me was how nice it was on the upscaled DVDs. I also use it with Neflix and the quality is enthusiastic for that as well. My expereince is that you crapper not go wrong wi9th samsung products eliminate the refridgerators are hornlike to get parts for.

Irene, VB, VA Said: DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! Aug. 23rd 2010

I've had a BD-P1590. It never worked! I was told by Samsung that I had to download software to precise the problem. I tried threesome times and it ease didn't work. Then they said they would beam me a CD with the software on it. It didn't work! Then they said they would beam it again...it didn't work! Then the company I bought it from agreed to exchange it for a BD-P1600. It didn't work! I got most an distance into the prototypal flick and it stopped. The consort refused to exchange it again. Samsung said to send it back to them for repair. I got it back threesome weeks after and surmisal what...it didn't work!!! They then told me the only thing they could do is try to repair it again. Again I dispatched it back. Again I got it backwards and it didn't work. Finally they said to sent it backwards to them and they would finally concord to change it. I sent it backwards and today they are saying it module take up to 3 weeks from when I sent it in to intend the replacement. All unitedly it has been substantially over 6 months and I hit yet to check a flick on this blu-ray player. Now they are sending me the BD-C5500. My advice...don't buy a Samsung. I was told by a salesman that Sony makes every the Samsung players anyway. Maybe they are trying to give Samsung a bad study by making DVD players that don't work! I hit added senior Samsung Blu-ray player that entireness perfectly. Don't undergo ground the after models don't work, but apparently they can't repair them either. I conceive that they attain grouping move through all these hoops before exchange it hoping that they will give up and meet go out and acquire added one.

Jeff Said: DO NOT ATTACH TO THE INTERNET Aug. 21st 2010

Like many others here, I intellection this to be a enthusiastic machine... until Samsung pushed a firmware update over the internet connection. Now I have to unplug it every pair of movies to release it. The wireless usb atachment has never worked on my Netgear or Linksys routers, it will only enter to my older D-Link 11-B . The intend grinds when intelligent and the far only works half the time. Given the problems everyone added is having, I ain't modify trying school support. I'll meet ebay the POS and essay another brand. Last time I'm going with Samsung.

ConsumerMark Said: Good Player Aug. 14th 2010

I have had this player and it is well used for years now. It has never failed me and works good. The video calibre seems good but I'm still using an older CRT TV. I like that Samsung continually tries to meliorate their creation by offering code updates. I endeavor DVD, Blu-Ray, and Netflix on it. No problems with any of them. I would acquire it again.
